kathy-masonKathy Mason launched Plantastic this year – its about locally grown food/herbs, local expertise on plants’ medicinal purposes and making/selling plant cosmetic products.

On Saturday 5th November 2016 between 11:am – 4pm, Plantastic members will be gathering to do their winter Harvest. Members of the public are welcome to join in and assist following a health and safety brief. All would be welcome to take a group photograph with Community Growers. Guests will be welcome to take a sample of harvest from giveaways e.g. Chard and Jerusalem Artichokes.

Einulin-bacteriaach year, Plantastic aims to highlight a harvest item complimentary to health. This year, is the Year of The Jerusalem Artichoke/ Sun Choke – which is high in inulin, on the low glycemic index and particularly useful in diabetic health.

Feel free to invite Diabetics including Carers and PA’s to come and learn more about the humble ‘sun choke’ which they can grow with their clients.

Hope this  event goes well! Kathy’s been  receiving  support from Sophia Hubs and attended the  Sophia course last year.  We are very pleased to be promoting this event today.  Kathy has come to our Ilford Green Pop Up market to market test the cosmetic products and run a workshop there. There’s no website yet but information is on the Linkway Plantastic Prescription Garden Facebook page that  was set up with help on the  Timebank 🙂 Begona  Belmonte,  Sophia  Hubs green business volunteer. And as a reminder that we  have lots  of resources for community groups and  social enterprises on our Enterprising Redbridge website.
