Guest blogger of Amazingly Simple Accounting Services start-up on fantastic Redbridge support and a healthy business

Amanda SimpsonStarting an accounting business in 2014..

In 2014 I decided to do something I love – Helping others by using my accounting skills. I started a business startup course at Newham College March ’14, competed my Level 1 & 2, registered my business on 15th May 2014 while at college and was nominated & winner for Entrepreneur of the year 2014. I secured my 1st contact with a charity in Aug 14th and my 2nd a month later. 🙂

2015 was a great year…

2015 was an amazing, fun year of business opportunities:-  networking at NELE (Networking in East London and Essex), Sophia Hubs and a number of others. Joining the Timebank enabled me to swap skills and help others earning hours: I’ve ran a budgeting workshop and  a drop in question session regarding business finance. I’ve been an entrepreneur’s club speaker and I have run a couple of excel hands-on workshops for recording income and expenditure to help other start-up businesses

Making the most of Redbridge resources…

We have a new Enterprise Desk located on 2nd floor of Ilford Library, which offers  micro, small and medium sized enterprises business support to help grow – I became the 1st member to sign up (membership is Free) –  I’m so happy as I run my business from home, its a great place for me meet my clients and work from and have been using this from when it opened in Sept 15.

I’ve also used it the venue to hold a skills swap via the Timebank with Brenda Maguire as she Amazingly Simple Accounting Servicesmissed my group workshop on excel at the Sophia Hubs entrepreneur’s club. I also met with start-up Stephanie Mugo on our Marketing Diaries due to a fantastic talk given by Nicola Millington of FPComms.

2016 – being an Enterprise Desk host…

I was approached by Jane Leighton of Enterprise Desk, to become a Host to which I accepted with joy!  I promote the space by holding meetings, signing up new members and explaining what is included, eg free Wi-Fi, Co Working Space, 1-2-1 advice and mentoring etc –

Enterprise Desk is a great working space for me being a home based business, being able to network with other business that use the space and the potentially to hold meets\mini workshops if need be. All in all an wonderful place to be!!!

2016 and beyond…

I’ve got vacancies to take on other clients and hope to build up my clients this year. I plan to continue being involved in the networks and support available – NELE, Sophia Hubs, Timebank and Enterprise Desk. I have found that it’s in meeting people and being out there, that I am finding clients.

Please get in touch if you want help with your accounts – whether to help you to do them yourself or for me to do the books for you. 🙂
