For young entrepreneurs there’s a new funding scheme which I thought may be of interest to Sophia Hubs. Virgin Start Up

Following an 11 month pilot initiative in the North East, Entrepreneur Richard Branson has announced the launch of a new not-for-profit company, which will offer financial support, mentoring and business advice to thousands of young entrepreneurs across England.   “Virgin Start Up” will provide loans of up to £25,000 to young people (aged 18 – 30) in England who want to start or expand their business.  Applicants will initially have to register on the Virgin Start
Up website and will then be contacted by one of the schemes partners to discuss the applicant’s plans and support required.  Smaller loans of up to £1,000 are also available to test a business idea.
Applications can be submitted at any time. http://www.virgin.com/richard-branson/launching-virgin-startup

I have an email list and send out all the opportunities I find that are available to community groups, charities and not-for-profit businesses.  Let me know if you want to be added to the list.  Alternatively if you want to keep updated on funding opportunites, these are always updated on the Redbridge CVS website.

We have some workshops coming up to help you with funding bids (this is  the sort of info I can email out to you) Monday 28 September from 1.30pm to 3.30pm – London Community Foundation: Laura Mitchell’s presentation will include a special focus on the Redbridge Small Grant.  Monday 12 October from 2pm to 4pm – Heritage Lottery Fund: Redbridge is a Heritage Lottery Fund priority area, and Richard McClenaghan will say what help they can provide to applicants. This session includes one to ones with up to four groups.  Monday 19 October from 2pm to 4pm – Big Lottery Fund: Reaching Communities Programme:  Kemar Walford’s group presentation will be followed up with one to one sessions arranged over the next few weeks.

Any Redbridge not for profit business  or group is welcome to attend all the general presentations – simply turn up on the day. However bookings are required for the one to ones, for which you will need outline grant proposals. To arrange a one to one with any of the funders or for more information on funding opportunities  please contact me
