In 2013 I fell in love with drawing comics and in 2014-15 I produced a comic every week, with all proceeds going to charity. One edition even included a section on the wonders of the Timebank!
During this period of honing my skills, I came to realise what a brilliant medium cartoons are for communicating with an audience in a quirky, memorable and engaging way.
In the last month, Cartoon Communications has popped into existence! It’s been a good and very busy start: a one page comic in a magazine, two cartoonist-in-residence gigs at training events and having my cartoons feature in a leaflet produced by the Redbridge public health team. If that wasn’t exciting enough, I found out this week that my cartoons won 2nd prize in a competition to design a poster to promote wellbeing in senior citizens. Award ceremony happening later this month!
In a text-heavy world, cartoons can be a breath of fresh air! Please have a look at my site for examples and to see how cartoons could be of benefit to you or your organisation www.cartooncommunications.com
I’d be delighted to offer 10% off any initial commissions to all blog readers. Just mention the magic word “Sophia Hubs” when you get in touch or send your friends and colleagues my way.
Sam is currently attending the Sophia course and as a big fan of the Timebank organised the mini yoga retreat last week. 🙂 To see the full cartoon strip on the Timebank click here.
