After being made redundant from a lengthy employment and being unable to secure employment, in February 2014 I embarked on a revolutionary venture of self-employment. As I had many decades of experience of cooking, decided to setup Newham’s first Pop-up-Restaurant which is based around giving local residents an opportunity to savour high quality of world cuisine without having to travel to the centre of London.
It may seem an unlikely place to spark a food revolution but Newham has one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse community. In the evenings, whether you are walking down your local street or through the town centres, you can smell the fantastic aromas of home cooking and if you linger long enough you can taste the air.
In my pop up events, I am recreating as well as fusing together flavours from this diversity for my clients to savour. I do reach out to Redbridge too and was delighted to be a speaker at the Sophia Hubs enterprise club and then be invited to provide the buffet for the first anniversary event. I run community cooking events including at the Redbridge Green Fair this year, helping people to make and cook flat bread.
Fusionfoods Pop-up-Restaurant is a pop-up event with a difference: specialising in ultra fresh ingredients for each and every dish. I term myself as a chef because my skills and experience are developed over 40 years of cooking using my creativity and keen passion innovatively. I take care in selecting the freshest and best ingredients, as quality is the essence of my cuisine. The fusion comes from my love of different cultural cuisine and passion for mixing ingredients from different parts of the world to raise flavours to a different level.
My aim is to deliver most of my dishes directly to the tables, interacting with guest diners and to answer questions about cooking methods and ingredient etc.
Next month I will have reached the first milestone and to celebrate this event, I am holding a special Pop-up-Restaurant event on Saturday 14th February 2015, which also coincides with Valentines Day.
